NOM-058-SCFI-2017
Controllers for artificial light sources for general lighting purposes – Safety specifications and test methods (cancels NOM-058-SCFI-1999).
Applies to controllers operating at a supply voltage or voltage range up to 1000 V AC (rms value) at 50 or 60 Hz, and up to 250 V DC.
Controllers must be designed and constructed so that, in normal use, they prevent and reduce risks to the bodily safety of users and the preservation of their property.
The controller depends on the type of lamp.
Controller classification:
1. By ignition type
• Normal ignition device ignition;
• Rapid ignition;
• Instantaneous ignition;
• Programmed or modified rapid ignition;
• Magnetic induction ignition;
• Auxiliary pulse ignition.2. By construction
• Electromagnetic;
• Electronic;
• Hybrid.3. By efficiency
• High efficiency (Low losses). Those drivers for DAI lamps comply with NMX-J510-ANCE-2011.4. By electrical circuit
• Leading transformer type;
• Leading autotransformer type (self-regulating);
• Lagging autotransformer type (high reactance);
• Lagging transformer type (constant power transformer);
• Series reactor type;
• Electronic;
• Constant voltage; • Constant current;
• Hybrid;
• Equivalent safety extra-low voltage (SELV, TEBS, SELV, Class 2, or Class III)
